Peter J. McNulty was born in Boston, Massachusetts, June 15, 1954; admitted to bar, 1979, California and U.S. District Court, Central District of California; 1983, U.S. District Court, Northern and Southern Districts of California; 1984, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California; 1986, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois; 1987 U.S. District Court, Central District of Illinois, U.S. District Court, Southern District of Texas, U.S. District Court, District of Massachusetts and U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit; 1988, U.S. Court of Appeals, First Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court; 1999, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York; 2000, U.S. District Court, Middle District of Pennsylvania and U.S. District Court, Southern District of Nevada (pro hac vice). After working for the Public Defender’s office in Boston, Massachusetts, Mr. McNulty was associated with the firm of Lawler, Felix and Hall in Los Angeles. In coordination with Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro, he defended clients such as Chevron, Pacific Telephone & Telegraph, Amtrak and Miles Laboratories in complicated personal injury and commercial litigation matters.
Since 1983, Mr. McNulty has practiced with his own firm. He has offices in Los Angeles and Northern California. He also has affiliated offices in Alabama, Nevada and Hong Kong. His firm specializes in the preparation and trial of catastrophic personal injury actions and complicated commercial actions with a special emphasis in Class Action/Mass Tort Litigation. His firm has also represented numerous Asian corporations and high net worth individuals in complex business litigation in the United States. His firm has also represented Nevada Energy Company in energy related litigation against El Paso, Denergy and Sempra. His verdicts and settlements total in excess of $350 Million U.S. Dollars. He has tried over 100 cases to verdict and is currently involved in multiple nationwide class actions involving medical devices and pharmaceutical products such as Accutane, OxyContin and Lupron. He is also co-lead counsel and a member of the Plaintiffs' steering committee in class action cases involving VW/Audi and Chrysler.
Mr. McNulty’s firm is “A.V.” rated by Martindale Hubble and is listed in Martindale Hubble’s Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. Mr. McNulty has been an invited lecturer for courses sponsored by the American Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association and local Bar Associations.
Mr. McNulty has also handled multiple significant matters involving S.E.C. enforcement actions, American and New York Stock Exchange Arbitrations as well as acting as defense counsel for matters that were referred to the U.S. Attorneys’ Office for prosecution.
